With Five Qualities of Mind, We Cultivate Wisdom and Happiness
Today's teaching can be gathered into five qualities of mind that the Buddha taught to practitioners. A person who wishes to cultivate and realize the path must first have firm faith.
Second is making sincere effort. Even if we set a good intention, strength does not arise if we do not keep practicing.
Third is making our thoughts bright and joyful. When the mind is dark and crooked, practice also easily becomes heavy.
Fourth, the mind must be stable and unwavering. We need the strength not to lose our center even when outer conditions change.
Fifth, we must not be foolish but wise. When these five attitudes are present, a practitioner draws closer to wisdom and happiness. Today, keep making effort while engraving these conditions one by one in your mind.
To realize the path, five qualities of mind are needed: firm faith, sincere effort, joyful thought, unwavering stability, and wisdom free from foolishness. As we cultivate these five attitudes, we can move toward wisdom and happiness.
