Clear Awareness Is the Strength to See the World As It Is
What matters in practice is clearly knowing all phenomena as they arise. Thoughts and emotions arise within the mind, and many things happen in the outer world. Even then, we must be able to observe them as they are.
Clear awareness is not indifference. Rather than putting forward only the wish to change the world, it is the strength to first see clearly what is happening now. If we do not see properly, compassion and wisdom cannot function rightly.
In the world, there are matters we can resolve directly and matters we cannot do anything about right away. When we can help, we should help with compassion and wisdom. Even when we cannot resolve something directly, we should not lose a good mind and prayer.
What matters is not letting the mind collapse because it is dragged around by results, but seeing with what kind of mind we look and acting with what kind of mind we act. When there is clear awareness, our responses become a little clearer, and our actions become a little wiser.
Today, may we neither grasp nor turn away from everything that arises, but know it as it is and respond with compassion and wisdom.
Clear awareness is not turning away from the world, but the strength to see it as it is. When you can help, help; even before what you cannot resolve, do not lose compassion and wisdom. Today, please first become aware, then respond clearly.
