The More Power the Mind Holds, the More It Must Be Guided by Compassion
People live with powers both large and small. There is the power of speech, the power of position, the power of wealth, and the power of influence. As that power grows, how we guide the mind that holds it becomes even more important.
When we have power while the mind is not well guided, that power can easily flow in a direction meant only for ourselves. But if we look after the mind and do not lose compassion, the same power becomes a tool that benefits many people.
Whether in religion or in society, the original purpose is to help people become more peaceful and wise. In order not to forget that purpose, we must always look at whom our mind is facing.
Do not look only at whether something benefits me. We should look back and ask whether this power also helps others, and whether it harms anyone. Power can become either blessing or suffering according to the direction of the mind.
Today, may we use even the small power we have with a compassionate and spacious mind, and may it become a day that benefits both ourselves and our neighbors.
As power grows, guiding the mind well becomes important. If the mind is narrow, power becomes a tool only for oneself, but with compassion it can benefit many people. Today, use the power you have with a spacious mind.
