The Path of Practice Is Rising from Darkness toward Light
The stages of practice can be seen as a process of rising from darkness toward light. At first, desire and discrimination are strong, so we are pulled by the body and the senses. As steady practice deepens, the light of mind, compassion, and wisdom gradually appears.
When one reaches the place of the heart, compassion and love open. At higher places, there is more light than darkness. Even if complete awakening is still far away, it is important to notice the darkness and make the light grow.
Knowing where my stage is does not mean blaming myself. Only when I know where I am now can I know where I need to rise next.
Today too, rather than reproaching yourself for remaining in darkness, may you continue the effort to rise one step toward a brighter mind.
