Awareness Illuminates the Cause of Suffering
In a developed city, cameras are placed in many areas so that when an incident happens, people can look into its cause. Awareness in meditation is similar. It is the strength to concentrate and observe what is happening inside the mind.
When we suffer, we are not simply suffering for no reason. Often some cause is working in the mind, such as anxiety, desire, anger, or an old habit. But if we cannot see that cause, it is difficult to step out of the same suffering.
This is why awareness is important. Not only during meditation, but also in daily life, we need to look closely at what situations shake the mind now, and what we are holding that makes us suffer.
Everything in the world keeps changing and flowing. Yet because we keep holding excessive desire, anger, or familiar habits, we may continue suffering by our own hands.
Today, turn on the observing light of the mind. When you become aware of the cause of suffering and let go of the habit you have been holding, you can take one step away from anxiety and unhappiness.
Awareness is the strength to look closely at what is happening inside the mind. Suffering often has causes such as anxiety, desire, anger, or old habits. If we do not become aware of the cause, the same suffering repeats. Today, turn on the observing light of the mind, look at what you are holding, and let the cause of suffering go.
