Joy and Love Grow from Looking Into the Mind
April 4 - Joy and Love Grow from Looking Into the Mind
We should live with joy and live with love. Even when we live among people we do not like, we should not lose the warmth and compassion within us, like people who add light to the world.
But this kind of life does not happen by itself. We need the effort to quietly look within ourselves and gradually step away from fear and attachment. If we do not look into the mind, joy cannot last long, and love and compassion are easily shaken.
True happiness does not come because all outer conditions have become favorable. It deepens as the inner life becomes clearer. Only when practitioners govern the mind well and rely on the Dharma do they come to know peace and joy that do not easily waver.
Today, rather than being pulled around by outer circumstances, may we first quietly look at our own mind and choose love over dislike, peace over anxiety, and letting go over attachment.
A life lived with joy and love does not happen by itself. Only when we quietly look within ourselves and try to step away from fear and attachment do compassion and peace begin to grow. Today, may we look first at our own mind rather than outside conditions.
